Romeo's Journey
If you've ever come across a homeless dog on your way back home, then you know how sad and alone they can be. Without any proper support these dogs can be prone to harm and infection, and that is why organizations like H.A.L.O. are here to assist and help.
Who is H.A.L.O?
Helping Animals Live and Overcome (H.A.L.O.) provides a no-kill haven where extraordinary measures are taken to save homeless dogs & pets and protect them from abuse and neglect.
H.A.L.O. believes in engaging our community by providing resources, education, and programs to do the same. Led by Founder and Executive Director, Jacque Petrone, H.A.L.O. has established themselves as a leader in the region and advocating for decreased euthanasia, and giving animals another chance at life.
Since it’s inception in 2006, H.A.L.O and it’s tremendous staff and volunteers have saved 18,414 animal lives!
Who is Romeo?
Romeo is a 4-year-old pit bull mix who was found on the side of the road and brought to H.A.L.O. back in July. He was a homeless dog found in emaciated conditions, unable to use his back left leg due to a significant fracture. His paws were burnt and swollen, and he was covered in fleas. Romeo was also urinating blood.
After some tests, the veterinarian realized that Romeo had significant heartworms, making the surgery extremely risky. However, thanks to donations from Good Dogg and an incredible medical staff, H.A.L.O. decided to move forward with the surgery in hopes to save his life.
Miraculously, Romeo’s surgery was successful and he not only survived, but is thriving! Romeo is currently staying with short term foster as he rehabs from the procedure and undergoes medical treatment for the heartworms. The shelter hopes his treatments should be completed by mid to late December.
After he has completed his treatments, this sweet boy will be available for adoption! We all hope that Romeo finds his Juliet, in his case that is a loving family that welcomes him into their home.
